Organized by Clear Edition & Gallery
Curated by Yoichi Nakamuta
CLEAR EDITION & GALLERY proudly presents, a solo show by Wataru Komachi ,divided into two parts during the two months exhibition period.
Komachi 's works consist of a variety of symbols and elements from music and fashion design industry, so that audience can easily find their mind connections with the artwork, and the artist can convey his distinct perspective in responding to the modern society. There is also a sense of humor addressed by quipping cynicism that builds up an ample expression in his work. Fundamentally, the performance of his work did not fall under the influence of popular art. Supporters of Wataru Komachi especially stand by the naive creativity and sensibility consistently seen in his artwork.
In the two-part exhibitions, the artworks are separated by the dialogs and transformation between art, fashion, photography, interior design and many different genres of design that Wataru has ever experienced. Furthermore, artworks are re-compiled by various aspects into a series of curation, which makes this exhibition even more special and hard to come by.
Part 01, entitled “I Don’t Want To Grow UP”, are installations from his early fashion design and painting works that transform his early-stage impulse into real action.
Part 02, entitled “Just Like Heaven”, mainly focus on his furniture design and screen print works, where artist turns his imagining "Paradise/Heaven" created by the chaos of modern world into substance.
There will be selling merchandises especially produced for the exhibition.According to two different parts of topics and statements brought by the artist, how will he perform the comparison between two emotion and sceneries, and make the overall connection?
Please do no doubt to take this rare opportunity, and come to see this exhibition with your own eyes.

PUNK EXPRESSIONISM
When I was in elementary school, I've got interested in T.REX because of influenced from my brother. So I asked my father to get tickets of their concert, and I went to Budokan with my tutor. Luckily our seats were in the middle of the front row, because my father* had a music-related job. While they were playing "Get it on" as an encore song, Mickey Finn of the member found me just a little boy in the front row.And He acted to give me his tambourine many times, then he threw it me.The moment when I caught it, someone's hand snatched it. No matter how much I looked around, I didn't know who had taken it. In the stage, Marc Bolan's glitter makeup peeled by his sweat was shining silently and sparkling.
My story of an unrequited journey - I'm still looking for that tambourine flying somewhere.
*My father - My deceased father (Akira KOMACHI) is a composer widely known for composing "Gamera vs Gyaos" movie theme song.
